Garment manufacturing | Printing process | Delivery carbon footprint

When you buy clothing and fabric bags direct from us (on this website, in our Etsy store, or in our notonthehighstreet.com store) you can have confidence that it has been produced with sustainable, respectful, dignified, environmentally friendly and fair trade values at its core.

Manufacturing

T-shirts and tote bags:

The t-shirts and fabric tote bags are manufactured by Stanley/Stella. On their website they have a page transparently detailing their production and certifications. They are GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard, covering the whole process from farming to the export of finished garments), a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, they only use 100% organic cotton (which uses less water and no chemicals), they are also PETA certified (no animal testing) and all their clothing is made from 100% vegan materials. This is just a very brief overview highlighting some things, please take a look at their website for the full details. You can also view details of their certificates.

Sweatshirts and hoodies:

The sweatshirts and hoodies are manufactured by AWDis. Although a high quality product, we can't deny that they don't live up to the exceptional production standards of our prefered Stanley/Stella brand, but they only use WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) certified factories in their production. Visit the AWDis ethics page on their website to read their statement. We will continually review whether we move to a Stanley/Stella sweatshirt and hoodie in future - we are worried that customers would not be willing to pay the extra expense so if you think you would pay roughly £10 more for the Stanley/Stella brand please let us know as it will help our future decision making.

Printing and packaging

Our items are printed to order, minimising wastage. The printer we work with for our clothing, mugs, drinks bottles and tote bags is continually striving to be as ethically and environmentally friendly as possible, it is of huge importance to them.

The inks they use for printing our design onto the product you have chosen are water based, eco-friendly, vegan, and OEKO-TEX® approved (they don't contain any regulated or unregulated chemicals harmful to the environment).

Waste cardboard is recycled, failed prints are donated to charity, all staff are paid above national living wage, and they are working with Ecologi to offset their carbon footprint by funding planting trees and other climate crisis solutions. Find out in their own words at the Inkthreadable environmental policy.

Their packaging is completely plastic-free and recyclable and they even have cardboard shelving racks to store their products ready to be printed - you can see photos on our eco-friendly packaging page.
